Beautiful morning to wake up to. I had to set my alarm as Ian was taking me to the airport to meet Dot. We did a quick trip to Lidl for some shopping, then a stop off at a coffee shop for caffeine and a loo. Dot was so pleased to see me as she knew I didn’t fancy taking Huee to the airport, she was expecting a taxi.
We had a lovely day catching up with all our news. Joy and Ian came to say hello to Dot, on their new quad bike. More of the obligatory wine!
This evening we stayed in and had Lasagne and Salad. Dot was so tired as she did not go to bed last night as her taxi picked her up at 4am.

Quite cool and cloudy today, it didn’t really change until about 6pm when the sun decided to come out.
It was the opening of the Arillas trail today, looks like there was a good turn out for it, unfortunately we didn’t get up in time for it.
Did some washing, and tidying and then sat and tackled a crossword with Dot. Phil went to watch the Grand Prix.
This evening we went to Portofino with Gaye and Nigel Hillary. We had a fantastic evening with them, Nigel is such an interesting guy. He kept us entertained and also told us about the book he has published in honour of his father, Wing Commander Walter Hillary, DFC., DFM. It is called ‘From Biplane to Boeing’ The book is based almost entirely on his father’s personal logbooks and notebooks which he maintained all the way through his career, logging the detail of every flight. It sounds fascinating, and to be able to know how your own father’s career transpired must be awesome. If my own father had kept diaries I think I would have published them too, in tribute to a great man.
It was good to catch up with Spiros and hear al his news from the Winter. He has, at last stopped smoking, and put a little weight on, but he looks really healthy.
It was so sad to hear about Donna the cook, she has cancer and has had an operation, she is due Chemotherapy quite soon. Unfortunately she cannot work this year, Yiota has set up a collection for Donna, so friends can donate food or money to help her out over this difficult time. That is what the Greeks do in times of dire need, help each other out.
The new chef seems to be good, he is cooking all the same menu, with his own little touches – well worth a try!
We ended the night in Coconut to have a nightcap, we were surprised how few people were there even Yiota had gone to bed.

Woke up to wonderful sunshine today, hopefully the washing will finish off drying. We decided to have a drive over to Sea Monkeys, in Sidari for a late lunch. Poppy had a whale of a time, she found some children playing in the water, so she took her ball over to them, they were playing for a good hour with her. Not sure who enjoyed it the most, Poppy seems to be suffering a bit now, she seems a bit stiff. I am sure she has just overdone it and will be rearing to go again tomorrow.
Back to the apartment, wine, cheese and biscuits for us and an early night after the late one last night.
17th May 2016
Wall to wall sunshine again. We had a slow walk down the front, met lots of people on the way. Sat and had a drink and sandwich at Sharons’. Perfect weather, Poppy had a good swim again.
We have two new Zebra crossings, wonder if anyone will use them!
Also the bench is back at the end of the Jetty.
This evening we went to the Rainbow for dinner. We met Eggy in there, he had been kicked out of his house, so Wendy could watch a TV program in peace. I tried Retsina again, still don’t like it!

Sunny morning, washing is drying beautifully! 23 deg this afternoon. Too hot to sit out for long.
Met up with Bob and Chris, his brother-in-law, they came to collect Christine’s ashes. Bob brought me one of Christine’s water colour paintings as a memento of her, she was a very talented lady. I will treasure it.
This evening we went to the new Grill room, Bouyata. Bouyata(noun):A traditional Corfiot word meaning the wooden construction used by villagers to transform the wood into charcoal. We had a delicious meal, we had starters, then tried the Chicken Gyros, mmmmmmmmmm all very, very tasty. Also not expensive. We shall certainly return.

Dull. cloudy morning today. Matches my emotional mood as it is 35 years since my father died, was the worst day of my life.
I went to the airport with Kostas to pick up my friend Barbara, who is here for a week. He dropped us off to have a mooch in Jumbo and then have a coffee, while he did some shopping and went back to the airport to pick up Nick, who was on the next flight. We got back to the Marvel for a glass of vino and lunch. We had a mesimerrie this afternoon.
This evening, 10 of us went for a Chinese in Sidari, we had a fantastic meal. It was great to be with good friends, we never stopped laughing all night.

Very wet today, never stopped raining all day and ended with thunder and lightening this evening. Electric was coming and going, as was the internet. Dot, Barbara, Phil, Poppy and I stayed in the apartment all day. Our back garden looked like a lake at one point, but was too dark to take photo. Never mind we had a good natter and ate well, good job we had lots of eggs, sausages and frozen chips in. Plenty of wine too. As they say Rain stopped play – only outdoors though.
