Hot and sunny again.
It is the Queen’s 90th birthday today. Happy birthday ma’am – not sure about your lime green outfit, but you look amazing for 90.
Also Spiros at Portofinos birthday, we had a lovely meal followed by a piece of this delicious cake.
We sat and talked to Ann and Roger, had a good catch up and a lift home – thanks guys, much appreciated.

Went to the Marvel tonight for Phil to watch the Grand Prix, we had a drink with Ann and Billy, they are going home tomorrow to start planning their wedding for next June. Then we had a drink with Sue and Frank, great night again.

Woken up very early this morning to the sound of thunder and the worst torrential rain I have seen in Arillas. Dimitris confirmed it is the worst storm in Arillas for 20 years.
https://www.facebook.com/kevin.gable1/videos/10208406416671443/ this is a video taken by our friend Kevin. The stream runs behind where our Motorhome is parked, usually you can hardly see the water unless you lean over. It is about 8 feet below our garden. Today I could see it from our balcony.
This photo was taken by a friend at 10am.
This is Sharon’s pool bar, after the storm. There is lots of sand and mud in the pool.
When it stopped raining, just after lunch. We took a stroll down to see if any damage had been done, by this time it was hot and sunny again. No one seems to have suffered much damage, just lots of cleaning to be done.
We stopped and had a chat to Leon, he said Takis is doing quite well. He had his Appendix out, but he has had complications with his bloods as he is diabetic. Also not such good news for his heart and kidneys. He has to stay in hospital a few more days. The good news is the restaurant is open again.
We arrived at Malibu, just in time for the end of the Quiz, we didn’t know it was an hour earlier because of the football. We gave our donation to the Animal charity anyway. Had a drink and a chat to Georgios.
We walked all the way along the beach to Ina’s, there was quite a bit of debris on the beach, but they had raked it and there was a dumper truck scooping it all up while we there. You would never know it had happened.
Poppy enjoyed her swim, she had a great choice of sticks today. We had a drink at Sharon’s and chatted to Ian and Joy, also Kevin and Sarah. Joy is working with Sharon, as Danielle has come off her bike – again. I walked across to get some milk from Alex’s, then we had an early evening meal in Bouyata. It made me laugh when I was asked ‘where is your Mum?’ meaning Dot.
We had a quiet night in, but the electric kept going off. During one of the earlier power cuts, we had a knock on the door – it was Paul from next door bringing us some candles, it was so kind of him. Luckily we had candles, but nothing to light them with, one of the drawbacks of giving up smoking. Anyway he went toddling off to get us one, bless him.

The ground is drying up lovely, not so spongy today. The stream is back to normal, about 8 feet down and I can see the pebbles in the bottom.
Beach front back to normal.
Kostas on the Beach staff 1988 – posted on Arillas Addicts on Facebook by Nigel Sham Willows. I thought it was interesting that even though, sadly, Kostas is no longer with us he is still loved and remembered by people who use the restaurant. Also by folks who sit on the bench on the jetty. The bench was paid for, as a memoriam, by regular Arillas visitors.
Here is another one posted by Nigel, this time Leon in Armourada in 1989. Wonderful memories, and I can remember it looking like that.

Beautiful day, sunny and hot 29 deg at one point. We decided to take the Motorhome for a run to Sidari today, so we picked up Sue and Paul. I wanted to call at the Pharmacy for some meds and cream for my mossy bites on my foot. Did a bit of shopping and then went on to Sea Monkeys for lunch. As soon as we got there, Poppy and Toffee went off to play together, then Poppy found someone to throw a stick for her. The lady broke the stick as she saw Poppy struggling to carry it.
We had an enjoyable couple of hours, enjoying lunch and watching the world go by. Home for a shower and nap, then next door for a meal, cooked by Paul. Another very enjoyable day.

Too hot to do much today, feeling lethargic. Popped over to the Marvel for dinner and drinks.

32 deg in the shade today, and got up to 35 this afternoon. We walked down for the quiz at Malibu and teamed up with Alice, Sue and Paul. We came 2nd. some great questions there – thanks quizmaster Dave. Popped into the Marvel for a cold drink on the way home.
Sad news today I found out my favourite Uncle George has died aged 88. I was a bridesmaid at his wedding to Auntie Doreen when I was 5 years old, 60 odd years ago and they have both been very special to me. Bless him, at peace and out of pain now.
We went down for a Pizza tonight, about 9.30pm when it had cooled down a little.
Well the end of our penultimate week in Arillas. The time has gone so quickly.
